for your spec i suggest to use damn small linux or live cd
distribution.

if you feel up to it, install gentoo from scratch and leave
out any gnome or kde.

stick to old style software such as blackbox windows
manager, abiword, gnumeric, aterm, beaver, sylpheed and so
on.

I got it installed on pent-m 900 mhz with small -0s compiler
and its running as fast as my pent 3 ghz but offcourse less
beautiful.

see http://w
ww.freewebs.com/duckzland/index.html for complete
software that I use.

I suppose you can achieve this too by using slackware.

D

                          Hi Vasudev,

I don't know how to thank you! I tried the FTP site and
don't seem to entirely understand how to download from it
but it has the files. I will try to look up the FTP
commands or contact the site and see what happens. Thank you
again.

 Hi Mike,

If you have the bandwidth, you can download older Red
 Hat distros here:

 Vasudev.
p.s. I'm not living in your immediate vicinity. ^_^
