I would examine your /etc/ssh/sshd_config file.
However, it is a very bad idea to allow root login with a password, and often
a bad idea to allow root ssh login at all. I generally set up machines
to only allow login with an ssh key, preventing password attacks.
And PLEASE! Post to ONLY ONE list at a time.
