I see that Dermot has already answered

This past weekend I created a version of libjpeg 6b which
configures 
and builds with modern GNU autotools (i.e.
"configure") and also 
successfully builds DLLs under Windows using the MinGW GCC
compiler. 
It should build shared libraries on systems where the
released libjpeg 
6b does not (e.g. Apple's OSX).
