devices have made some amazing transformations over the years. This

Information This one will be getting pretty juicy I
suspect. Seriously, as these types of reviews go, things could get
ugly!
After HP’s recent acquisition of Voodoo
PC, it seems fair to compare and contrast a very high-end, luxury
gaming PC with a high-end, stock gaming PC from a mainstream PC
manufacturer.
The Gateway FX510XT has been previously reviewed
by PC Magazine. That review included a fairly wide range of tests. Due
to the scope of the review, PC Magazine only included two actual
games, Doom 3 and Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory, plus 3DMark06. They
also only tested at one wide screen resolution, 2560×1600. The
review gave the Gateway system and EditorR17;s Choice.
Our
sister publication hasn’;t yet looked at the Quad SLI iteration
of the Falcon Northwest Mach V, but the previous version of Falcon
Northwest̵7;s ultimate game machine also garnered an
Editor’s Choice. The company shipped us their latest iteration,
featuring a highly overclocked, liquid-cooled Core 2 Extreme X6800
processor, a BFG physics accelerator card based on Ageia̵7;s PhysX
chip, and a pair of BFG 7950 GX2 video cards set up in Quad SLI

Information Alright, even cynical old me has to admit
that this is pretty darn cool. A mouse of all seasons, even?
We do plenty of mouse reviews here at ExtremeTech. And why not?
High-end products like Logitech’s G7 Laser Cordless and
Creative’s Fatal1ty line cater to the kind of performance
enthusiast gamers and do-it-yourselfers want. Even mice that
aren’t specifically for gamers will sometimes have a pretty
steep price tag attached because they bring nifty new technology to
your desktop—the new Logitech MX Revolution is a good example.
Together with a keyboard, a mouse is the primary way we interface
with our computers. It’s practically impossible to use a modern
OS without a pointing device of some kind, and choosing a great mouse
(or pen, or tablet) that suits your needs can really improve the whole
experience of using your PC. Most devices focus on one or two
significant new features—high DPI sensitivity, programmable buttons,
customized weight distribution, special ergonomics—whatever….

Information Oh there is no question that this could
put them back on the map. And so long as HP understands the importance
of leaving the VoodooPC guys alone to do what they do best, this could
be quite the success story.

Information The sample shipments are coming! The
