Hi,

apologies for accidentally sending incomplete mail.

1.3.1 autodetects if the server supports SASL and attempts
to use
it if possible. Both 1.2.x and 1.3.1 support SSL connection
to
port 5223 (deprecated method, the new preferred one is to
use
StartTLS on port 5222).

It should work. If it doesn't, it would be good if you could
produce
the logs so we could try and identify what went wrong.

LM 1.2.2 does use SSL, so it is encrypted. GTalk supports
unencrypted
connections, but in that case the client cannot use PLAIN
authentication method

to connect gtalk

IIRC, GTalk doesn't support DIGEST at all.

X-GOOGLE-TOKEN ?

Google-Token and Digest are different authentication
methods.

Again, logs (set LM_DEBUG env variable to 'net' to produce
those) would
be helpful in identifying what went wrong.

Senko
