local socket name unsafe: permission denied

Hello,

i have just installed sendmail and now i want to run
mimedefang with it.
I think my configuration is ok and should work, but when
sendmail starts
sending a message I get this error in the log file:


Initializing SMTP port (sendmail)451 4.0.0 /etc/sendmail.cf:
line 1580:
Xmimedefang: local socket name
/var/spool/MIMEDefang/mimedefang.sock
unsafe: Permission denied

Here are the directory permissions:

drwxr-x--- 2 defang defang 48 2007-03-06 10:05
MD-Quarantine
drwxr-x--- 2 defang defang 208 2007-03-06 10:25 MIMEDefang

Do you have any ideas?

I had similar issues with sendmail 8.13.x and found the only
thing that 
seemed to solve it was to use the following permissions (I
list all the 
way back to the root even though they are the default
because sendmail 
will complain if those are wrong):

/:
drwxr-xr-x 22 root   root   4.0K Mar  4 19:28 .
drwxr-xr-x 20 root   root   4.0K Feb 13 21:18 var

/var:
drwxr-xr-x 13 root   root   4.0K Feb 15 16:42 spool

/var/spool:
drwxr-x--- 22 defang root    540 Mar  6 04:33 MIMEDefang

/var/spool/MIMEDefang:
srwxr-x---  1 defang defang    0 Mar  4 19:28
mimedefang.sock

I don't recall if having group root on the
/var/spool/MIMEDefang 
directory is really required (I set this up long ago), but
what I have 
works.
