| RC3 aviable |

Hallo
I have made the mjpegtools 1.9.0 RC3 and put it online.
It is aviable from the file area.
We have the source tar package, the source RPM.
And the two RPM packages which contain the binaries, and the
developer
information. The binaries are compiled for Pentium II, so
should run on
almost every machine.
If someone wants to contribute a package for AMD64, Intel
64, MAC or
some other architecture, please tell me.
The main fix is that the rate control is not broken any
more.
If nothing big comes up I will make the final release the
next 2-3 weeks.
As always: Feedback is appreciated and welcome.
auf hoffentlich bald,
Berni the Chaos of Woodquarter

Also, there was a memory leak with audio in Quicktime files
that
was fixed - I think that bug in the tracker can be closed
now.

Basically I have no idea what goes wrong on your computer.
In one of the
older mails from you I found that you used the intel based
sound card.
Could you do a "lspci | grep -i audio" so I know
that sound card your
system has.
Have you loaded the modules snd_pcm_oss and snd_mixer_oss ?

How many sound cards do you have ? And from which one doe
you want to
record ? Without the recording command, and the output when
you add -v 2.
And lines from your log (/var/log/messages) it is very hard
to help.
You should see some entry's when you start recording and it
fails.

I ran valgrind on today's CVS mpeg2enc (so likely also RC3),
and it has some
complaints (example log files attached) about uninitialized
values. Although
many of them are in debug logging statement, others are not.
Whether those can
have some real impact (depending on settings/circumstances)
... ?
BTW; also did so for mplex, and no complaints there (other
than some memleaks).
Regards,
Mark.

Thanks for the valgrind run. I'll see if I can resolve
these issues over the
next couple of days (there's a bit-rate control error in
there someplace too
I need to fix - who knows they might even be related ).
cheers,
Andrew
