h264 video for iPod / iTunes?

Hello,

I presume this a FAQ, but my googleing only tunred up old
posts.

Can I use MEncoder to create iPod compatible h264 videos
from WMV source files?

I have been using MediaCoder, but it does not add any
metadata for me, and I'd like to script this from the
command line anyway.

If MEncoder won't work, do you have any other ideas?

(Running Windows XP)

Thank you,

Yes.

And over the weekend a patch went into libavformat to create
a new format of 'ipod' which
will insert the necessary extra stuff to make h.264 video
play on iPods, removing the need
to run mencoder h.264 mp4 files through nicMP4Box.exe.

I should add this to the man page...

To make this clear: h.264 at 320x240 already worked. It's
only 640x480
h.264 that needs the code for an Apple/iTunes workaround.

Good enough for me. Applied.
