Thread: Randomly "thawing" Freeze Panes

Randomly "thawing" Freeze Panes

hey Lorna,

If as part of an update process Excel delete rows (or
columns or the entire sheet and then replaces it) the freeze
panes will move around. is there any processes that
automagically happen which would cause this, or is the
workbook just stable with garden variety links to other
workbooks?

regards

Darryl.

Subject: Randomly "thawing" Freeze Panes

Hi All!

I have a user that has a workbook containing many worksheets
that she
constantly updates. This workbook contains links to other
worksheets,
as well as external links to other workbooks as well.

In all of the worksheets except the first one, she has
chosen to
Freeze Panes between Rows 7 and 8. Periodically, when she
opens the
workbook, makes some changes to the data, closes and saves
the
workbook, it appears that Excel is automatically
"Unfreezing" the
panes. The next time she opens the workbook, some of the
worksheets
are unfrozen. We haven't been able to come up with any
pattern to
this, other than that she's updating and saving the
workbook. She's
using Excel 2003, and Windows XP.

Can anyone give me a clue here? I can't seem to duplicate
this
behavior - she sent me the workbook file, but not the linked
workbook files.

Thanks in advance!
