So are we putting a stake in this project? There hasn't
been any real
development for over a year now.

I've been maintaining MOL for some time now (see previous
list messages)
and am currently working on a new release, probably in the
next few
weeks. I've fixed up the 2.6 kernel support (running linux
in MOL) and
have working compressed disk image support (qemu's qcow
format) added.
I'm working on some issues with sound which I'd like to
have finished
before I do another release, but most of my spare time has
been spent
working on bcm43xx reverse engineering lately.

So anyway, MOL is not dead, everything that worked before
should still
work now, it's just not real lively either. :p I don't
have access to
the MOL website either, so it looks more dead than it really
is.

You have fixed the linux 2.6 in mol support ? This is indeed
great news. Do
you know starting from which version or CVS dats this is in
? And/Or maybe
some kind of howto on how to do this ?

Does this need, like in the 2.4 times, somce special linux
2.6 patches ? If
so, would it make sense to port them upstream ?

Friendly,

Sven Luther

No, I haven't made the changes available yet, I'll set
something up soon.

It's just a port of the 2.4 modules. Since they depend
upon MOL
headers, it may not make sense to push them upstream. I
suppose I could
look into making a proper MOL platform, we could probably
ask for that
to be included upstream.

I would be interested to participate in that. If nothing
else, i would like to
make the debian kernels mol-aware, so wed things like run
the debian-installer
inisde mol and such stuff.

That would be awesome!

The performance of MOL is very good and this would allow a
lot of
people join the development of d-i since most of us lack
development
and test machines.
