Hi, Folks. I joined this group two years ago, when I first
got my
Motorola V710 phone, and you all taught me how to get the
modem script
and use the phone as a modem, which I have been doing
successfully
since then. I unsubscribed then, but I am back with a new
question. My
Verizon contract is up, and I'm considering upgrading to a
new phone,
but today at the Verizon store, a clerk told me that even
though the
new phones all have Bluetooth, I would not be able to use
any of them
as a modem. If I want to enable the new phone to be used
that way,
she said, I would have to pay $69 a month extra. She was
very
surprised that I have been using my v710 as a modem without
paying
that fee. Now I'm thinking I should NOT upgrade my phone,
even though
I'm unhappy with a few aspects of the v710, because I do
not want to
lose that capability to use it as a modem. Is what the
clerk told me
the truth, or are some of you able to use new Verizon phones
as modems
without paying that fee? If so, which ones? I tried to
find the
answer to this query in your archives, but it seems it is a
bit too
general. Thanks for any help you can give. June
