I have been using my LG VX4400 as a modem for Verizon and a
variety of Macintoshes for
two years. I use the prolific PL2303 driver and have had no
problems at all. My calls only
chew up minutes on my America's Choice plan.
A few weeks ago Verizon called and asked me to renew and
offered a new phone as an
incentive. I chose a Motorola Razr v3m and when it arrived I
tried using it with my Mac as a
modem but to no avail. I have tried everything! I am noy
interested in high speed access or
downloading ringtones, wallpaper or movies. I don't need
EVDO and in fact, EVDO isn't
available at all in Vermont where I use the phone 90% of the
time. Verizon tells me that if I
want to use the phone even for low speed I need to pay
$59.00 a month! even though I
couldn't get high speed even if I wanted it! I returned the
v3m and am back with my trusty
if worn out VX4400.
My questions are:
Can I use the Razr v3m on Verizon (via the USB cable or via
Bluetooth (my MacBookPro has
Bluetooth)) without voiding the warranty?
Is there another Verizon phone that will do the job or
should I stick with my worn out
VX4400?
Should I go to Unicel and get a GSM phone that I can swap
the sim chip back and forth
with my Rogers GSM phone ib Canada? and try and use that as
a modem?
Other suggestions?
Your thoufghts would be greatly appreciated.
