Who is the "they" in your message? No one has announced anything.
There is only the same rumours and speculation about an Apple branded
cell phone being parroted by the rumour websites.

I think the rumour sites and press have it all wrong. Cingular
already sells devices with "iTunes" in them. Apple is not in the
cellphone business, there will never be an "iPhone."

History has proven that Apple doesn't place limitations on itself,
concerning
new technologies and embracing different ideas ..ie. Apple got into
both the
music and movie industry, who would of thought this years ago.
Regardless,
whether you want it or not, Apple has already developed an iPhone
product and
steam is building around their business relationships with other
companies now.
Don't you see, Apple "sponsored" those horrible Motorola phones to
unofficially
test the market, and the market ate them up. Yes, rumor sites are all
over this
like fly are to shit, but, who can blame them when analysts are
predicting 25million
iPhones sold within six months. All I've got to say is: If Apple
introduces a GSM
only device, then monolithic Verizon is in trouble.

Sorry to stray, but there..
Geoffrey.
