Not everywhere in the nation is mac friendly, thereıs a large percentage
(mostly smaller cities and rural areas) where nobody will go mac other than
computer savvy people, tethering is something that Iıve seen used by
business people, college students, and pretty well everything in between.
If you put something out that only supports one kind of computer (you can
only tether to the new OS for macs) then you guarantee that the people who
arenıt within an hour of an apple store or a repair center (or whatever
their excuse is for not changing to a mac,) wonıt consider the phone, and
itıll also hurt the chances of carriers other than AT&T picking it up
eventually for that reason as well.....

why would that be product suicide ... ?

You could still use the iphone on windows .... kind of like most
things are now .. you can use them on windows ... just not all the
mac features

so to me that would simply be one more reason to convert to Mac ... .

All of the software required for tethering has been built into OSX and other Unix flavors
for decades, and by necessity Windows. Once iPhone's Embedded rtOSX turns it on, it
should work universally.

Don't forget corporate, government, and military, who are so solidly
entrenched in the Windows cult that many won't even allow macs
(including iPhone) on their networks.
