Hi!
Cindy,
The problem is that you have to "activate" the
phone through iTunes
which means that both Apple & AT&T will know you
have an iPhone and
want to charge you accordingly.
That's certainly a fix that I am in... I have 1,000 minutes
a month
with Cingular for $49.99... So I would have to abandon that
plan if I
got an iPhone.
Rob
Rob, if you want to use the iPhone as a phone, then yes you
would have to
activate through iTunes. You simply plug it in. If you have
the most recent
version of iTunes, it will begin the activation process.
During the process,
you are asked if you are a current customer of ATT and if
you want a new
number or to use a new number for your phone. If you have a
plan you like,
simply choose to use a new number. It will only charge you
the extra for the
new phone on your account. The only way you would change
your plan because
you get an iPhone is if you no longer want the old plan. You
can have both.
If you do not want the phone and wireless internet, you can
use the iPhone
as an iPod, calendar, etc. You can use the internet when you
can connect to
WiFi. Connecting to your computer to sync does not “tell”
Apple and ATT
anything unless you allow it to.
Hope this helps!
