Ok, let me try to throw my 2 cents in and hit each spot for you.
Sidebuttons: all phones have them now days, even smartphones, the only one I
know of without side buttons is an iPhone....sorry.....(thatıs what keypad
lock is for)
icons: most phones will be the same, itıs the carrierıs way of getting you
to use their services, most motorolas can be re-configured without having to
edit software and will let you change the various buttons to do what you
want them to so you can avoid the ³icons that invite me accidentally to
connect to the Internet²
Excellent Reception: I donıt know about where you are, but, everyplace Iıve
been, since AT&T took over, the words Excellent Reception and AT&T donıt go
together at all. That also goes for ³dropped calls².
Multiple Numbers Per Contact: Thatıs not a motorola.....end of debate
there....the new RAZR2ıs are supposed to have the ability when they come
out, but Iıll believe it when I see it.
All in all, to be honest, Iıd say you might look at other carriers if youıre
up for renewal, with wireless number portabiity letting you take your phone
number with you if you leave, thereıs nothing at all holding you to any
given company at the end of your contract anymore, shop the competition too,
donıt only look at AT&T. If youıre NOT up for renewal and are going to pay
full retail for the phone, shop competition too, often you can start up with
a new carrier and pay the early termination fee for less than you can buy
the upper end phones at retail price.

Subject: [maccellphone] Choice of phone?
I have ATT cellular service and would like to upgrade my phone, because my
Samsung D407 does not have enough volume for me to be able to hear
conversations in a car or in any area with significant background noise.
I am looking at the Motorola KRZR K1, which is reported to have excellent
volume and battery life but a somewhat fragile glass front cover, and the
Nokia 6126, which is reported to have possibly iffy volume and short battery
life. I am open to other recommendations (probably not Sony Ericsson,
though, for I have had very poor experiences with their phones).
I don't currently connect to my computer with my phone at all, but do have
BlueTooth capability, and would like to be ABLE to connect.
- I would like NOT to have annoying side buttons that accidentally place
calls or noisily take photos from inside my pocket. On/off and volume are
fine in that location.
- I would like NOT to be overwhelmed with icons that invite me accidentally
to connect to the Internet (and pay for the privilege).
- I want an excellent phone (good reception, good clarity, good volume, few
dropped calls), for talking and occasional texting, and, at the moment, for
little else.
- I want to be able to store multiple phone numbers for my contacts and
readily access work/home/cell for each person as appropriate.
Any comments? Advice? Suggestions/recommendations?
Carol
