Can anyone confirm or deny for fact if the current iPhone from Apple
has GPS built-in?

Thanks in advance,

It has a mapping program. It does not have GPS.

No built-in GPS support.

However, there is a third-party app called Navizon that purports to
be able to locate your position by using known Wi-Fi nodes or cell
towers. Its performance is spotty at best. It located me in a closed
(private) Wi-Fi network in Toledo, Ohio over the weekend, yet can't
find me by using cell towers back home in Kentucky.
