bluetooth modem hangs up

For some time now I have been using my ibook G4's built in Bluetooth with my Moto v551
cell phone to access the Net using my MediaNet plan (pre-ban on tethering contract) with
great success. Now the ibook is on the blink and i am using my old G3 Lombard with a
Belkin bluetooth USB dongle. I can connect but the modem hangs up after a few minutes
and the connection is not stable. I have tried several of the modem scripts I have gotten
from taniwha.co.uk but all produce the same results. Any ideas?

Have you tried different network preference settings? Tcp, PPP?
Like header compression?
What about modem settings? APN?
Different scripts seem to like different APNs.

I once had the same problem with a v551 and a bluetooth dongle.
I finally gave up and called Cingular (they were not AT&T yet), and
they told me to try taking the battery out, waiting 30 seconds, and
putting it back in. I was doubtful. But to my surprise that fixed it.
