Actually, the voicemail systems glitches is a difficulty that Verizon
has with a Windows 2003 server file management problem. It's relatively
complex but it comes down to security and file 'cache-ing' and the
database that manages the voicemail/eMail (and thus date/time stamps
the files). Honestly, I wouldn't trust them and I use a home-based
digital voicemail system.
Here's the kicker, Verizon suffered a virus style windows issue about
15 months ago and had a nearly complete failure of the voicemail
systems (for both landline and cell customers). If this was a business
decision, I wouldn't trust Verizon's systems at all.
My 2¢.

PS, I wish I could program my cell phone to recieve and voicemail
calls. I hate racking up airtime to dial up a server.

Oh how this parrallels...lol..I too have Verizon landline. I got rid
of their VM for that very reason. I use my own answering machine now
and get much better results.
