I don't know about AT&T, but my 8703e on Sprint, upgraded to 4.2 os, finally tethers with mac without even trying or running any special software on either mac or BB.

Tell me more .... I have an employer-provided BB (it's a 7290, I
think) and that might be just the ticket I need.
