Yea, after a lot of Internet surfing and looking at a zillion
discussions, I think the only way to do it is accepting the over
priced, wireless data plans with something like the Sierra Wireless
Aircard 875u, which works very well with Apple and 10.5. It does not
appear that any of the newer phones will work with the good old
wap
cingular set-up, and thus avoiding the data plans. (Does anyone
know the technical name for that kind of dial-up system?) I'm guessing
this is due to the lack of modem scripts. I still don't understand why
any phone with Bluetooth and an Apple compatible modem script will not
work with the old set-up for EDGE/GPRS data. I don't need 3G because
most of those areas have some nearby WiFi source.
