Hi,
I want to make my home automated and I'm in the process of looking for the correct architecture for doing that.
The system I have in mind will have few dozens of on/off switches to control, some audio outputs, inputs from motion detectors, thermostats, microphones, light detectors etc.
The logic and input analysis will be simple at first but I want to be able to extend it to do complicated things for instance simple voice recognition and voice synthesis.

I don't mind buying a PLC it is just that it looks to me that since some of the system';s part must be run on a PC and I want to be able to write code in a real languish the integration between the PLC and the PC will be problematic, this is why I come to your system.
So my questions are:
1. What can your system control currently, are there simple relays or something that has on/off switch and can be controlled by MatPLC?
2. How hard is to to write modules that read/write data to the PC sound card?
3. How about controlling via cell-phone, anyone worked an something in that direction?
4. Does any of my thoughts may sense to you?

I don't know much about these matters - I'm a software engeneer :/
Feel free to say I'm way off, and I don't know what I'm talking about

BTW. I'm building the apartment now so wiring all the house with control wires is what I want to do.

I designed some I/O modules (1Wire device based)
check them out here : http://www.java-system.co
m/
choose "I/O modules" from the right menu
"products" (sorry still a lot
of missing English translation) Also, in the download
section you can
find electrical schematics and other infos in pdf files

I created the 1Wire driver for MatPLC
Code successfully compile with MatPLC (I sent a copy to
Mario) but right
now no time to bring it to 100%

Let me know if you are interested in this I can send you the
code

Linux has some SMS server like Gnokii or smsd they can do
the trick
connected to MatPLC

Yes but all this stuff is really hard to take to a good
usability
But it's the future for houses, so don't stop working on it
!
