Something up with size limits

I must have something misconfigured.

Postfix has a message_size_limit of 20480000
my.cnf has max_allowed_packet = 20MB
maia shows 20480000 and reject in the system settings for
max message size.

I send myself a file from outside that is 7MB, and I get
this back:

Return- Path: <danitacaledonia.net>
Your message <449AC163.B17F.005B.1caledonia.net>
could not be delivered to:
   <danitacaledonia.net>:
   534 5.3.4 Message larger than 1047552 bytes rejected,
id=20298- 03

where is this 1047552 bytes coming from?

Did you restart everything already? (Postfix, amavisd,
mysql)

The 1047552 looks like the default mysql max_allowed_packet,
so it may
be mysql.

Yeah - I restarted it all - maybe I need to check that mysql
actually DID restart properly - this is the same server that
I sent a message about not always shutting amavis down
properly, so maybe mysql doesn't shut down either!

You can check the value of max_allowed_packet using
mysqladmin:

mysqladmin variables | grep packet
| max_allowed_packet              | 16776192
