  Actually probably more like I troubleshoot the problems I
run into and
fix what I find, so it's very inconsistent.    I

  This is somewhat what I was suspecting, some kind of
encoding issue,
possibly.  I don't know a lot about the topic, and haven't
made any
progress thus far on process-quarantine-sub.pl.  I could see
that being
an issue between perl and php clients, but wouldn't expect
the two perl
clients (daemon and cron scripts) to be mismatched (and
don't see
anything in them that looks relevant to the issue).
