Yes you have hit the nail on the head with what is happening
and why.
We run a hosting company for which we have built our own
control panel.
This control panel interfaces with sendmail on what we call
"mr1" so
that all users can edit their email addresses, create pop
accounts and
direct mail accordingly.
Postfix is in use on the server we call "mailscan"
(which is the MTA in
use before Maia) and is configured to authenticate with
"mr1" and verify
that an email address is correct and if so accept it and
pass it to
Maia. So an email address which arrives for alice alpha.com
could
really be redirected to alicebeta.com, but this doesn't
happen until it
hits "mr1".
I must admit I am unsure how to achieve this on Postfix,
with sendmail
you simply add a line to the virtusertable that looks like
this:
alicealpha.com alicebeta.com
Or
alpha.com %1alpha.com
Is there a postfix equivalent then?
