That, and Maia also has a web interface. If an e-mail
message takes an
extra 30 seconds to reach its destination, it's unlikely
anyone would
even notice. But when you're waiting 30 seconds for that web
page to
load, the slowness is evident. Hardly anyone outside of this
list even
realizes that I've had to disable Bayes in SpamAssassin, but
I'm getting
my door beaten down over the slow web site.

The current trunk has some improved queries over 1.0.1 which
will
help the web speed.

Not ever having tried an in-place Maia upgrade on a
production system:
can someone else who as done that give me an idea of how
hard it is? I
presume it's not as easy as just untarring a new set of PHP
scripts and
redoing the local changes I've made (only a few of those,
fortunately)?

Depends on what version you are running. If you are on
1.0.1, I don't think
there were any database changes.. But you can run the
admin/upgrade.php once
you're ready to switch, and it will update the database as
needed.

Of course, it's always best to make a copy of your database
and create a test
environment first before working on the production server!
