How-to Upgrade to trunk version from 1.0.1

Hi,

I run the latest stable release (1.0.1) and I want to give a
try to the
trunk version. Do I need to run maintenance scripts and run
the
admin/upgrade.php script ?

Also, how can I help with the french translation? I have
installed the
package but I noticed that the translation is not completed
and maybe I
could help for this part.
