Good idea, but I got this already working.
I put a
"$smarty->assign('is_superadmin',is_superadmin($uid)
);" at the end of the .php file which I want to edit
and then I opened the corrospodending .tpl file. There I
could then use the variable $is_superadmin to e.g. disable
certain input fields.
<input {if !$is_superadmin} DISABLED {/if}
type="submit" ...
