Thread: new setup

I've set up a SLES 10 server all new following the directions from http://www.retnet.co.uk/modules.php?name=News&file=article&sid=69 I've followed the instructions quite carefully...

I'm at the point where I'm sending test mails from Thunderbird on the box itself. The mails are going through and also showing up in the Maia Mailguard cache.

But none of them appear to be getting checked for spam or viruses. They all have a score of 0, and I can send the Eicar test virus ;through.

I'm also not seeing any X-Spam-Status headers in the email. I suppose this means amavis isn't doing the scanning? But amavis service is running...

Where do I start looking for problems?

Most likely it's that your system-default policy is still in
its
default, "pass-through" mode, and your
newly-created domains and users
have inherited that policy. See
<http://www.maiamailguard.com/maia/wiki/PassThrough>.

It's also possible that you have an address-rewriting issue,
with your
upstream mail server aliasing addresses such that
amavisd-maia doesn't
recognize them and lets them fall through to the
system-default policy.
See <http://www.maiamailguard.com/maia/wiki/Addresses>.

Do you have Post fix configured to use amavis to scan the emails? This would be done through Yast>Network Services>Mail Transfer Agent. Check the box “Enable Virus Scanning (Amavis).”
