If your postfix size limit were set properly, the mail would
never reach
Maia in the first place. If you want to reject mail larger
than 12.5
MB, set message_size_limit = 12500000 in your main.cf file
and reload
(or restart) postfix.
Given your stated hardware specs, amavisd-maia should be
able to handle
larger mail items (I routinely process 20-30 MB mail items
on a much
more modest Linux box with just 2 GB of RAM), but I gather
that the
limiting factor in your case is the per-process memory cap
that FreeBSD
is imposing. You may wish to raise that cap for
amavisd-maia.
