I think Hormel disapproves the term "SPAM" in all
caps.
Maia Mailguard has ben around since at least January 2001,
according
to the first code checkin. Robert had been developing it
for some
time before that.

According to this, They registered their trademark *after*
Maia
1.0.0 RC2 had been released, and I'm not sure how much
before that
Robert had made public.
Maia Mailguard has been using the term before they
registered it.
Furthermore, I am not a lawyer, but I think
"Mailguard" alone is too
generic, which is why we have the full phrase "Maia
Mailguard" as
our mark.
Of course, I am not a lawyer, and I have no idea what the
laws are in
Australia.
