I just ran into this myself. I'm guessing you just upgraded
your ClamAV to a
new version. If that's the case, or even if it's not, take a
look at your
clamd.conf, and find out what directories and files it's
using.
In my case, they were:
PidFile /var/run/clamav/clamd.pid
DatabaseDirectory /var/db/clamav
LocalSocket /var/run/clamav/clamd
Make sure that they have the correct owner. When I upgraded
ClamAV, the
owner of those directories changed to clamav, and I did a
'chmod -R
vscan:vscan /path/to/directory' to fix it, and restarted the
daemon.

Hi, I'm having a problem with the Clamav, this is what my
amavis.log is
saying;
Jun 27 13:44:03 spam.swaziweb.co.sz
/usr/sbin/amavisd[25657]: (25657-01-10)
Clam AV-clamd av-scanner FAILED: Too many retries to talk
to
/var/amavisd/clamd.sock (Can't connect to UNIX socket
/var/amavisd/clamd.sock: No such file or directory) at (eval
