I've only tried trophie (trend) during my early days with
Maia. I think
the most important thing you can do, is choose one that's
daemonized to
prevent performance issues.
If they really have a lot of money to spend you could try to
pursue them
to buy a fully solution/appliance, for example ironport, and
then after
a year compare what's best. Let maia be in front and report
how many
items your solution/appliance picks up and say "hey
boss, last year we
wasted $10,000 on picking up XX items that our free solution
didn't pick
up".
Back on topic, I don't think it really matters which
anti-virus solution
you pick. My opinion is that they generally don't really
care about *nix
and make products that doesn't work as good as it should.
