Thanks to everyone that responded when I asked for hardware
suggestions for my new maia implementation a few weeks ago. I was able to get a
server approved and it arrived this past Thursday. It’s running very very
nicely on this new hardware (a Dell PowerEdge 2950.) We went with 2 dual core
2.66 ghz CPUs, 4 GB of RAM, and 4 146 GB 15K SAS drives in a RAID 10. (I made
sure we didn’;t cheap out on the drives.) As I said, its running very
nicely with our test group of users, and we hope to completely cut over to maia
and shut down our commercial spam appliance during our winter break. (December
or January.)
