I've just been setting up a maia box for one of our offices,
but they
have a slightly different setup than I'm used to. They send
all their
mail (both in and out) through the same box, while I usually
separate those.

Shouldn't be a problem, but it seems that outgoing mail is
also being
checked for spam, is there a way I can prevent that? Other
than setting
system default to no.

Using postfix as mta if anyone have a clever way to distinct
those.

Incoming is controlled by a transport-table, outgoing by
mynetworks.

Hi,

I am working with a setup like this one in the office. I had
to change
my main and master.cf to get this to work. Ill post the
piece I had to
change in my master.cf here:

#smtp inet n - - - -
smtpd
10.10.10.11:smtp inet n - - -
-
smtpd
        -o content_filter=
        -o
smtpd_client_restrictions=permit_mynetworks,reject
127.0.0.1:smtp inet n - - - -
     smtpd
        -o
smtpd_client_restrictions=permit_mynetworks,reject
10.10.11.12:smtp inet n - - -
-
smtpd
        -o content_filter=smtp-amavis:[127.0.0.1]:10024
        -o receive_override_options=no_address_mappings

I removed 'content_filter' from the main.cf and moved it to
master.cf

10.10.10.11 is the ip/nic on which the exchange server
connects to SEND
mail.
10.10.11.12 is the ip/nic on which the internet gateway is
connected, so
that's for RECEIVING.

The default smtp directive on the top is commented out to
make space for
these options.

For this to work, you need to have 2 ips connected on the
box to make it
a true mail router. I did not find a way to make this work
on a single
ip.

Rgds,

Michiel

Could probably do the trick, but when I think about it they
want virus
filtering for outbound traffic, but not spam filtering.

In that case you have to take it to the amavis level, I have
no idea
about that. On the other hand we have the same virusscanner
(Mcaffee) on
the spamfilter as well as on the desktops, besides having
clamav also
running on the spamfilter it doesn't add anything on top of
mcaffee.

In that case. Maia has to be enabled for outbound filtering,
and you
control the spam filtering with amavisd settings. We do this
here for
exactly the same reason: we want internal mail scanned for
viruses, to
prevent spreading one that somehow manages to evade all our
scanners and
get inside. But we don't want to waste cycles filtering
internal mail
for spam. The way to do this is to set the mynetworks paramater in
amavisd.conf . This causes it to skip spamassassin filtering
for
anything that matches.
