Thread: process-quarantine question

process-quarantine question

This just ran, has been this way most every time, and I was
wondering if
there are any suggestions on how to fix the problem. Note
the times. This
is the last 2 lines of the --debug output.

2008-02-07 17:10:18 Maia: [process-quarantine] Recalculating
statistics
2008-02-07 18:24:06 Maia: [process-quarantine] Processing
completed: 1647
items processed in 14 runs.

And yes, its doing that. It starts teh process, seems to
run right on
through things, then just hangs for an hour
recalculating...

Do I really need it to recalculate?

Sadly, yes, if you want the stats to be correct. This is a
result of
the stats being based only on confirmed data, so it flushes
out all
the deleted stuff that wasn't confirmed.

For 1.1, I'm revamping the stats to be always increasing
counters,
which removes the need for this recalculation stage.

I actually ran into this a while ago and took the recalcat
stats
subroutine out of process-quarantine and moved it into a
seperate script
which I called stats-snapshot.pl

Let me know if you want it, I'll send you a patch.

Send it, please. I can see where process-quarantine is
going to quickly
reach a point that it will never finish. Or at least never
finish before
there are more of them to do than when it started.
