" Or, don't run it as root?"

In my research on the issue I did see items to that effect.
Using the bayes_username_override directive (I think that's
the right
directive but I'm going from memory so it may not be exactly
right)
didn't work for me. That's the only thing I could find to
'force' the
user to be 'not root'. The error returned was exactly the
same, just the
name had changed. I tried the sql username, I tried the
amavisd user,
etc. I did 'su' to the amavisd user and ran the backup
command and still
got the error. Nothing worked until I went through that
process. I
really think it was because I hadn't run the bayes in the
'normal'
fashion first, which gets done with the 'sa-learn --sync'
command in the
process I used. There was no 'use_bayes' directive in any of
my .cf or
.pre files that I could find before I tried the process from
the Wiki. I
am quite obviously no guru, but the process, like 'Hooked on
Phonics',
worked for me!

Also, if doing 'su amavis' is the proper thing to do before
running the
commands on the Wiki, and it seems that it is from your
reply, then that
should be noted on the Wiki page. Noobs like me need that
sort of thing

I freely admit that maybe I screwed up something the first
time I tried
all this and then needed that process to clear it. Again, it
is quite
obvious that I am no guru in this particular area. Building
this mail
server has been a learning curve like Batman climbing the
walls in the
old 1960's series....going straight up clinging to a rope
hoping someone
will open a window and talk to me!

Thank You, Citizen!

All joking aside, I really mean that...you guys on this list
have been
GREAT. THANK YOU to ALL!
