I can't answer whether the developers will work on this, but
you
should be able to use altermime. I have not tested this with
Maia (I
was using amavisd-new 2.4.x at the time) but I have
(unfinished) notes
on how to set up and call altermime. I use Debian (so some
items may
differ slightly), and this is now a little old, but may help
you

I got distracted and lost the thought process near the end
of my
notes. Then since amavisd-new 2.5 changed the rules, I never
went back
to finish it.
