Sure, I had to up the memory dramatically from the default.
Early on I
noticed that mail was queueing up, the load average was
high, and mysql
was using 100% cpu but not much RAM, which was my clue to
raise that
parameter - when I did so, it made all the difference - RAM
usage went
from around 5% up to 25%, and the load average went down
from 8 to less
than 1. In general, it's just like oracle, the more RAM you
give it, the
happier it is.
I also discovered that the autoextended innodb data file had
grown to 10
times its original size, so I did a dump and restore,
creating 3
generously sized data files. it's been running well since
early 2006.
