provided the answer.....




I found out I was having this loop problem on perl 5.8.7 and 
figured out that my /etc/maia.conf file specified a wrong path to the maia 
scripts directory.  If you haven’t already figured out that issue which was 
posted to maia-users mailing list, I hope this might help you.

I've now set my maia.conf properly and problem 
solved!
