Can somebody please elaborate one more time on how to set
maia to filter
outgoing mail. I have "mynetwork" configured to
allow mail to be relayed via
the box but I don't see it is being passed to amavisd for
content checking.

Eugene

I'm a fairly new user, and we aren't yet running our
outbound through the
gateway, but since others haven't responded yet...

I believe that you set the filtering options for outgoing
mail in the System
Default Domain (.)

Before Maia can filter outbound mail, it first needs to be
able to tell
"inbound" from "outbound". The way you
do this is by telling Maia about
all of the (inbound) domains you wish to process mail for.
Go to the
Admin->Domains page and make sure that you add all of the
domains for
which you process mail; if there are many domains to add,
you may prefer
to use the maiadbtool.pl script to do this in bulk. Once
you've told
Maia about these domains, any mail addressed to recipients
in those
domains will be considered "inbound". Mail
addressed to recipients in
all other domains will fall through to the "."
account, and will be
considered "outbound".

- From there, you can start treating the "."
account as if it were just
for outbound mail (since all inbound mail should fall into
one of the
domains that Maia knows about). Go to the Admin->System
Configuration
page and set:

Should the System Default user (.) only catch mail for
local recipients?

to "No", if you want outbound mail to be
quarantined/cached like other
ordinary domains. Essentially, you treat the "."
domain as a special
domain for outbound mail--you can adjust its filter settings
and manage
its quarantines/caches like any other domain, though only
the superadmin
can manage it.

Thank you Robert,

maiadbtool.pl was a revelation for me. I've never known what
it could be
used for.
