I'm not sure you'd really want what you think you want, if
you had it
When users have their own Maia accounts, they become
responsible for
managing their own quarantines and caches, so if you don't
tell them
about this feature or let them login to do the maintenance
work
themselves, you'll be stuck having to manage all of those
individual
accounts yourself. The more users you have, the more
tedious this will
become, since there's no central way as yet for an
administrator to
manage multiple users' quarantines/caches in one place.
You'd end up
having to use the 'impersonation' feature to become each
user and manage
the user's quarantines and caches for him. Feasible for a
handful of
users, perhaps, but certainly not for hundreds or thousands.
By not letting your users login to Maia to manage their
settings and
quarantines/caches, you also introduce the risk of confusing
them as to
what's happening to their mail. They will not be aware of
any mail
being quarantined on their behalf, and will have no ability
to specify
their whitelist candidates to bypass that sort of blocking.
Some users
may not notice, but those who begin to wonder why they never
received a
given email may come knocking on your door to find out.
If you're looking for a phased approach, you're better off
not assigning
users any individual Maia accounts just yet. Just create a
single
domain account and use that to get a feel for how Maia's
working. That
lets you manage just one quarantine/cache in one place,
until you feel
ready to delegate further. Start by offering Maia accounts
selectively
to a handful of individual users you figure are savvy enough
to know how
to use the system properly, and gradually broaden your
deployment to
other groups as your user-education campaign builds some
steam. The
people you've already introduced to the Maia system can
then help show
others how to use it, making your job a lot easier.
