Thread: Merging 2 Mantis DBs into one

Merging 2 Mantis DBs into one

I am trying to do this but it would appear I'm playing with
fire. Basically
I'd like all of one database to come in as a single project
with subprojects
from the previous system under an existing Mantis system.

I believe I can get most of it in by manually massaging an
SQL dump of one
such that the imported data has ids incremented sufficiently
to not
interfere with the existing database. Will the
auto-increment feature of
MySQL choke on this idea? i.e. I'm up to issue #1400 odd in
the main DB. The
other DB has 170 entries, so I add say 1500 to each id of
the second DB
resulting in Bug IDs from 1500-1670. I'm not worried about
email links
getting messed up. There are few if any direct links to
other bugs in the
bugs.

Some of the users are common so things like bugnotes etc
might also get
messed up. I'd like to merge them into 1 user if possible.

Is this just plain silly? Possible? Worth re-entering all
data from the
second DB into the first one? Has anyone done anything
similar before?

Thanks
CH
