Pages empty after installation

Hi there,

I'm all new to MediaWiki, so please forgive any possible
major stupidities.

After installing MediaWiki (all went well, it's running
"nicely", at
least without any error messages or the like).

However, all "special" pages, such as Userlogin or
Specialpages are
empty, that is "(There is currently no text in this
page....".

What am I doing wrong? I followed the installation guide,
and it says as
the next step to log in into the wiki, but I can't as the
corresponding
page is empty!

Your help is greatly appreciated,

best regards from Berlin, Germany,

Florian

Probably you are running PHP 5.0.x on a 64-bit server
(x86_64). A bug in
PHP 5.0.x causes incorrect behavior in various places, which
as of
MediaWiki 1.8 is particularly visible.

The current 5.x release of PHP is 5.2.0; the bug was fixed
on the 5.1.x
branch in October 2005, so any 5.1.x or 5.2.x release should
work
correctly. If possible, upgrade PHP to 5.2.0. (If you don't
operate the
server yourself, contact your system administrator and let
them know
this old PHP bug: http://bugs.php.
net/bug.php?id=34879 is breaking your
site.)
