Question about permanent links

Is mephisto writing files with permanent links to the public
directory?

The reason I'm asking is that I've an index.html I want to
show, and
mephisto seems to be nuking it.  Moreover, I'm finding other
of my
permanently linked files put into the public directory.

Yes, it caches files to the public directory.  It shouldn't
be
deleting other files though, it only deletes what's logged
in the
cached_pages table.

Is there a way I can tell it not to cache a page?  It's
caching / ->
that's what I think is overwriting the index.html.

Not really... Mephisto works through a single rails action
for all the
public stuff.  You'd have to inject some conditional caching
code
somewhere probably.  I'd just manage that index page with
mephisto
too.
