Yes indeed, you need to ask first.

IMHO the simplest way(for the future) would be to have a
better and quicker submission page from the 
projects site, since not all those who install also read
this mailing list to answer you.
This way, all those who get the software could very quickly
"submit" their site for the showroom too.

Also I suppose many of them won't answer because MeshCMS is
so simple that in many cases
those who installed the software on various sites are no
more around since it's not required (like 
with other CMSes), so the actual "users/admins"
have no ideas about CMSes .

This is tipical for most open source projects and it's
called at best "Success Stories" . E.g.:
