I don't think so - I believe (from memory) that
"/meshcms/sites/" is 
recognised as a system directory - so meshcms will refuse to
serve 
content from here for the main site.

There are some very useful hints in the user guide for using
sub sites - 
I use them a lot - for different domains and also for
sub-domains, eg. 
sub.domain.com rather than just www.domain.com.

Just to confirm that it is not possible: virtual sites
cannot be used
from the main one.
