Firefox will actually prefetch linkrel="prefetch"
and
linkrel="next", I don't believe it will
prefetch arel="prefetch" at
the moment though.

rel
is one of the HTML4.0 link types

://www.w3.org/TR/html4/types.html#type-links, I believe
rel="prefetch" may be a Firefox invention,
but I wouldn't be
surprised if other browsers had taken it up.
