--- i convert this to an ics file and attempted to import
it. Without
a month and/or day in the ISO date Apple's iCal just ignores
the
dates.

How do I

1997"?
--- this is when you will have to give an ISO date of what
you think
best respresents that season.

You can use RDATE:
<abbr class="rdate"
title="20010910/20020901,20050101/20070122"><
;abbr
title="20010910"
class="dtstart">9/01</abbr>–9/02,
1/05–Present</abbr>
you aren't the first person to ask about this, so maybe we
should
document more information about this on the wiki.

This could be a combination of RDATE and an iSO date for
each season.
I hope this helps,
