Thread: Logging information

Hi,

is there a microformat specification for
application/server logs?
Typical structure:

[DTM stamp] [Severity] [Message]

Example:

2007-03-03.13:43:21 INFO Server was started

But then with each element tagged with an appropriate
class.

Any input would be appreciated,

LuigiG

Hi Luigi,

There is currently no microformat for that specifically, but
it looks
like what you're logging is an event, so you can probably
publish it
with hCalendar:

http://microfo
rmats.org/wiki/hcalendar

For example:

<ul class="vcalendar">
	<li class="vevent">
		<span class="dtstart
dtend">2007-03-03.13:43:21</span> <span
class="summary">INFO</span> <span
class="description">Server was
started</span>
	</li>
</ul>

If you still want to talk about a new microformat, that
probably
belongs on the -new list:

http://microformats.org/mailman/listinfo/microformats-n
ew

But I'd encourage you to try using hCalendar.

Peace,
Scott

I was thinking it was more like hAtom:

http://microformat
s.org/wiki/hatom

Since that has all the elements of hCalendar plus it has a
category
and also author which might conceivably be the server name.
Plus
hAtom seems more like the concept of an event log - ie.
there's an
implicit association between the events.
